Hey hey, it’s my birthday!
My birthday breakfast was the third (and final) Cinnamon Bun from Max’s (purchased 1480 miles ago!) and an overnight-brewed cup of PG Tips tea.
Left Thunder Bay around 8:45. It was a gloomy, drizzly day.
Stopped at a vista point northeast of town with a hazy view of Lake Superior. Michigan’s massive Isle Royale loomed on the horizon, barely visible (and not in this one photo I took):
A circumnavigation of Lake Superior ensued for the rest of the day, alternating between glacial land formations:
and vistas of the lake:
As I made my way southeast, I became in need of a pit stop and a Subway sign advertising “Free WiFi” lured me into Wawa.
OMG.
Much to my delight, there were three GIANT CANADIAN GEESE sculptures!
They were a total surprise, as they are not visible from the highway.

Thanks, Subway!
You’re Meatball Sandwich wasn’t bad either.
One more lake view:
I arrived at the SleepInn in Sault Ste Marie at 5:15.
It was a conventional corporate chain motel, which was welcome after the creepy Thunder Bay experience.
Day 7 complete. 435 miles, about 8.5 hours.

Happy belated birthday (you share it with my dad)! Those geese statues are really cool...I'd hate to see what they left behind if they were real! I am loving this journey with you, Anne! Thanks for sharing it!
