The next leg of the trip was arduous. I forgot to take Seattle Traffic into consideration.
But let’s start at 7am, when the Hi-Lo Cafe opened:
I had eggs over easy with hash browns. Forgot to ask for toast at first. Oops.
Time to get going!
and hit the road.

Driving, driving, driving. Northbound I-5, Oregon. Been here SO many times.
Overcast and rain sprinkles.
Made it through Portland, traffic not too bad.
Maintained 55mph through Olympia and Tacoma (potential speed traps and don’t drive in the far left lane!)
And then, Seattle
It took me an hour to escape. Torture.
I was dropping off art to Sue and Ying. They fed me dinner! Thai! Yum!
Spring Rolls and a Tofu Curry.
(The Spring Rolls were to linger in my mind. More on that later).
It was getting late. I still had 1.5 hours estimated traveling time to cross over into Canada and get to the motel in Hope, BC. Thank goodness for northern sunsets at 9pm.
Well, there was only a glimmer of twilight when I crossed the border at Sumas.
Easy crossing. No questions about food (a concern, and why I wolfed down all the remaining perishables before leaving Washington).
And then the clouds rolled in, and it got darker than dark.
And then it started raining.
And there were a lot of trucks! Spewing water as they passed me!
And I could barely see the highway markings!
I wasn’t falling asleep, but it was very stressful.
Finally, at 10pm, I arrived in Hope.

Day 2 complete. 699 miles, 13.5 hours.
Every week, I’ll go into detail about each day of my recent road trip [except some of the 8 days in upstate NY].
While you wait for next week’s Day 3 installment - Hope to Cranbrook, BC - get previews on FindPenguins.
Right up until the skies opened up on you it sounded like a great day! I hate when it's pouring rain and I can hardly see-- I would definitely not have to worry about falling asleep them either as I would be on the edge of my seat. Glad you made it safe and sound.
