My final driving day in Canada was very light in both distance and photos taken.
I started out with a hearty (expensive) oatmeal breakfast in the cafe ($14).
The coffee was terrible.
There was also a noisy TV broadcasting morning show chitter-chatter.
Ugh.
Anyway, I had been led to believe they served Starbucks - the desk clerk extolled the wonders of breakfast the evening before when I checked in. I found out later that was in the other restaurant. Oh.
More angst when loading the car - the elevator was broken.
It was only one flight of stairs to deal with, but still, not luxury hotel standards!
I voiced my dismay when checking out and was comped breakfast.
Small victories.
I exited Canada at 12:30:
and entered New York State.
I celebrated the return of functional WiFi!
It was a short drive to Watertown, where I was meeting up with Shelbee, a long-time blogging friend. We first met IRL in 2016, when she came out to Los Angeles and attended the opening reception of “Fashion Rainbow” at TAG Gallery.
Now it was my turn to visit her!
Shelbee made us a yummy healthy lunch and then we tore into a giant birthday cookie (our birthdays are a week apart).
Next stop: Mom’s, only 68 miles away.
First half of the trip over.
Day 9 complete. 255 miles, about 6 hours.

Even when it's only one set of stairs...carrying luggage up or down is hard! I love seeing both photos of you and Shelbee! I bet the two of you cackled for hours! Happy belated birthday!
