Woke up to a lovely dawn and a crow meandering up the street (wish I’d taken a video).
This was the view out the bedroom window. I also spotted a lot of lilac bushes in bloom - yay, one of my favorite flowers.
Yelp investigations led me to Max’s Place, a cafe with rave reviewed Cinnamon Buns and within walking distance. Of course, I routed myself via the lilacs!
Leaving Cranbrook, I approached the Kootenay Rockies.
At Crowsnest Pass (namesake for Route 3), I crossed into Alberta.
I then descended to the plains and put the mountains in the rearview mirror.
When I crossed into Saskatchewan, I made an urgent pit stop at the Province Line Rest Stop. The Portapotties were disgusting. Oh well.
Arrived at the Windus Inn at 5:10.
Dinner: the Spinach and Feta Quiche from Max’s. Delicious!
I was mucking about on Instagram and almost missed this lurid sunset:
Day 4 complete. 430 miles, about 8 hours.
Every week, I’ll go into detail about each day of my recent road trip
While you wait for next week’s Day 5 installment - Swift Current, SK to Steinbach, MB - get previews on FindPenguins.
Enjoying your journal. Canada is on my list, it was featured extensively last year in a BBC programme called Race Across the World. Has the perfect blend of wilderness/isolation with cultural cities and foreign influences. Thanks for linking at Is This Mutton.
That sunset!
